State Convention

The National Federation of the Blind of Nevada State Convention is the largest gathering of blind people in the state. It is the premier event for training, support, and information for the blind community. It also serves as a governing body, democratically electing our leadership and establishing each year's organizational priorities.

2026 National Federation of the Blind of Nevada State Convention

Saturday, May 30, 2026

The National Federation of the Blind of Nevada invites members, families, professionals, community partners, and supporters to attend the 2026 State Convention. This annual gathering offers a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest initiatives of the organized blind movement, gain practical knowledge in blindness skills and technology, and participate in discussions that shape the future of our work in Nevada.

The convention will feature engaging presentations, informative workshops, networking opportunities, and affiliate activities designed to strengthen local chapters and empower blind individuals across the state. Portions of the event may be recorded to allow important information to be shared more broadly within the affiliate.

Throughout the day, attendees will hear from our National Representative, Sheila Wright, President of the National Federation of the Blind of Missouri and member of the NFB Board of Directors. As a national leader within the Federation, Sheila brings extensive experience in advocacy, leadership development, and organizational growth. To learn more about Sheila Wright, please visit her official biography.

Speakers will address a wide range of topics of state and national importance, including advocacy, accessibility, membership growth, services for seniors, technology advancements, Braille literacy, guide dog use, student initiatives, and issues affecting parents of blind children. The convention will also recognize outstanding contributions within the affiliate and celebrate the important work being done throughout Nevada.

Everyone is encouraged to attend, share the information widely, and participate in the work of transforming expectations for blind Nevadans.
